Sara Narcissus Wariner Edmondson, age 100, of Asheboro, North Carolina, died December 19, 2012 at Carillon Assisted Living. Mrs. Edmondson was born October 3, 1912, in Ruffin, North Carolina to William Henry and Narcissus Bradley Wariner. She was a 1934 graduate of Greensboro College and taught school before her marriage. In 1946 she moved to Asheboro with her husband.
She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd; Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonel Andrew Balfour Chapter; Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century, Earl of Shaftsbury Chapter; Daughters of the American Colonists, Virginia Dare Chapter; and the Randolph Public Library. She enjoyed sports and was active for many years in golf and bowling. She was a past member of the North Carolina Senior Women's Golf Association.
Mrs. Edmondson was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Frank Edmondson, Jr.; her parents, William Henry and Narcissus Bradley Wariner; brothers, William Henry Wariner, Jr., and Wiley W. Wariner; sisters, Annie Mae Williams, Janie Golden Barbee, and Lula "Flo" Rogers. She is survived by her son, Frank "Sonny" Edmondson III and his wife, Judy of Asheboro; daughter, Billie Edmondson Hand and husband, John of Orlando, Florida; grandson, Frank Edmondson IV and wife, Hilliary of Asheboro; granddaughters, Sara T. Meyer and husband, Richard of Orlando, Florida and Ashley Edmondson McNeill of Winston-Salem; four great-grandchildren, Carson Dean and Sara Elinor Meyer of Orlando, Florida and Emily Claire and William Brock McNeill of Winston-Salem; and may special nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Carillon Assisted Living, Randolph Hospital Home Health, Hospice of Randolph County; and caregivers, Margaret Blackwell, Ann Fox, Patricia Gaines, Mildred Hamer, Carolyn Hood, Toni Hoskie, Janet Jaimes, Susan MacLaughlin, Felicia Marley, Alla Mitchell, Lauren Mitchell, Anita Newby and Jane Pressley for all the skilled and loving care they provided Mrs. Edmondson.
Evening prayer will be conducted in the Sanctuary of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd on Saturday, December 22 at 5:00 PM. The family will receive friends in the church parlor following the service.
Graveside service will be in Oaklawn Cemetery on Sunday, December 23 at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 505 Mountain Road, Asheboro, North Carolina, NC 27205, Randolph Public Library, 201 Worth Street, Asheboro, North Carolina 27203 or the charity of choice.
