Sandra Yates Inman, age 72 of Level Cross, went to her eternal home and to be with her beloved Jesus, on Friday, May 22. The constant toll on her body, but not on her spirit, from the painful effects of rheumatoid arthritis was finally too much for her physical body to endure. Sandra suffered from this devastating illness for almost forty years but is now pain free. She is reunited with her father, Amos E. Yates; mother, Dora Rich Yates; stepmother, Treva D. Yates; her three sisters: Ola Shaw, Dorothy Winslow, Vera Vickory Dunlap, and other family members dear to her. A dedicated member of the Level Cross United Methodist Church, Sandra taught Sunday school for thirteen years before her illness and, although bedridden for much of the past seven years, she continued her coordination of the church's mail ministries. After losing her ability to hold a pencil or pen, she dictated her heart felt comments to her bedside attendants, which were then sent to fellow church members in their time of need. Although dependent on others for her physical needs, Sandra, in return offered spiritual inspiration through her faith, endurance, fortitude, and grace.Every day she read passages from the Holy Bible until others had to read them to her. Sandra always looked forward to the Wednesday evening prayer service held at her home. She cherished the time she spent with her pastors, family, friends and neighbors. The family is grateful to the many caregivers who went beyond their assigned duties and became a true friend to Sandra. She is survived by a daughter Susan Hutchens of Level Cross; a sister, Carolyn Hardister of Greensboro; a brother, Sam Yates of Knoxville, Tennessee; many special nieces and nephews, and countless friends. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 24, 2009 from 6-8 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home 600 S. Main Street, Randleman, NC and other times at the home of her sister Carolyn 219 Staunton Dr. Greensboro, NC.
