Samuel Lee Sammy Long, age 77, of 2248 US Highway 64 E, Asheboro died Sunday, March 21, 2004 at his home. Mr. Long was born October 15, 1926, the son of the late George Herman and the late Pearl (Andrews) Long. Mr. Long was a native of Durham County, a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and owned and operated Sammy Longs Upholstery Shop. He was a Mason for 50 years and was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Asheboro Lodge #699. He was a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife Erma Thornburg Long, two daughters: Kay Park and Cindy Long both of Asheboro, NC; 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; one sister: Lillian Shaver of Alexandria, VA. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 23, 2004 from 7 - 9 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Aaron Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro with military honors. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009.
