Sam B. Clanton

d. July 12, 2010

Sam B. Clanton, age 70, of Ramseur died Monday, July 12, 2010 at his home. He was a proud son of Chesterfield, South Carolina. Go Cocks! Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Tim Pheagin officiating. Sam was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He spent most of his career in the textile industry and eventually found his calling as a salesman. His gift for gab and charm made it easy to be one of his customers. Conversation and laughter were two of his favorite things. He rarely turned away an opportunity to have a good time. Sam was a colorful and compassionate man whose charisma and witty personality left a lasting impression. He nurtured and tended his relationships like a timeless garden sharing the bounty with those he loved. He was a great friend who loved many and will be dearly missed. Sam found beauty in life and surrounded himself with art, music, poetry, dancing Japanese maples and great food. To him there was no such thing as too much chocolate. He was a romantic and saw the good in people. Sam remained optimistic even when faced with declining health. Although his journey here is over, we find comfort that he is now surrounded by those who have gone before. Love, play, joke, laugh and be free. He is survived by the love of his life, Linda Clanton of the home; son, Trey Clanton and his wife Renee Clanton and his granddaughter Rachel Elizabeth Clanton of High Point, NC. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 16, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Memorials may be made to Randolph Arts Guild, 123 Sunset Ave. Asheboro, NC, 27203.
