Ruth Yow Whitaker

Ruth Yow Whitaker, age 99, of Asheboro, passed away on November 10, 2015 at Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation of Asheboro. Mrs. Whitaker was born in Randolph County on March 8, 1916 to Manley and Eva Smith Yow. She was retired from Acme-McCrary Corporation after 25 years of service. Ruth was a member of Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church and the church was the center of her activities. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Earl E. Whitaker and brothers Alan and Manley (J.R.) Yow, Jr. Ruth enjoyed gardening and cooking. She is survived by her son, Tony Whitaker and wife Priscilla of Mt. Gilead; 2 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church, 1928 North Fayetteville St., Asheboro with Pastor Wyatt Hoogkamp and Rev. Doug Dennis officiating. Interment will follow in the Marlboro Friends Meeting Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church, 1928 North Fayetteville St., Asheboro, NC 27203.
