Ruth Marie Miller Nance, age 86, of 373 Mack Rd., Asheboro died Friday, May 10, 2013 at her home.
Mrs. Nance was born June 26, 1926 in Randolph County, the daughter of William Ivey Miller and Effie Estella Cranford Miller.
Ruth was a lifelong member of Back Creek Friends Meeting and worked at Burlington Mills in Quality Control for many years. She attended Farmer High School and graduated in 1943. She married the love of her life , Waie in 1949, and they celebrated 63 years of marriage on December 28, 2011. She retired from Asheboro High School where she worked in the cafeteria and enjoyed all the students that attended there. She is preceded in death by: sister; Clara Jane Miller; brothers: Clayton, Nick and Norman Miller.
Ruth loved helping and caring for everyone, including loving all children. She also enjoyed cooking, crafts, painting, gardening, flowers, canning, and playing the piano by ear for many years at Back Creek Friends Meeting.
She is survived by her husband: Wesley Waie Nance; daughter and her husband: Jane Nance Frye and Lee Frye of Raleigh, NC; step-grandson: Dustin Frye of Raleigh, NC; and one brother and his wife: George and Johanna Miller of Asheboro, NC.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 13, 2013 from Noon-1:30 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will follow at 2:00 PM at Back Creek Friends Meeting, 139 Back Creek Church Rd., Asheboro with Rev. Jon Reese and Danny Hosler officiating. Burial will be in the Meeting Cemetery.
