Ruth Kearns Leach, age 100 died Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at NHC Nursing Facility in Greenville, South Carolina.
She was born on October 3, 1917 in Ramseur, North Carolina to the late Robert Ivey and Nola Wooley Kearns, and was preceded in death by her husband John R. Leach. Ruth was a graduate of Troy High School and a life long member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working at Belk Cline in her earlier years. Later in life she worked along side her husband at The Troy Sandwich Shop, better known as “Wimpeys”. After retirement, she worked at Allen’s in Troy.
She is survived by her son John R. Leach (Martha) of Hebron, Kentucky; children Karen Boyd (Tim), their children Collyn and Jacob of Savannah, Georgia, Amy Rogers (Trae), their children, Mackenzie and Cameron of The Woodlands, Texas, and Madison Gerstle (Nate) of Cincinnati, Ohio. She is also survived by a daughter Ann L. King of Greenville, South Carolina and her sons Tripp King (Cherrael), their children Jordan and Quinn, Todd King (Erin) and their children Caroline and Jax, all from Piedmont, South Carolina. Also, survived by her brother Donald J. Kearns (Carolyn) of High Point, NC and preceded in death by brothers: Robert, Bill, Jim, Max and sisters: Sara Talbert and Nancy Brown.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Beverly Nance for her faithful, loyal, loving care that she extended to their mother for many years.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church, 239 North Russell Street, Troy. The funeral service will follow the visitation at the church at 11:00 AM and burial will follow at Southside Cemetery in Troy.
