Ruth Miriam Haas Hurlburt, age 92, of Randleman went home to heaven Sunday, October 8, 2017.
Mrs. Hurlburt was born January 16, 1925 the daughter of Paul Edmund and Florence Kay Heisler Haas. Ruth was a native of Lehigh County, Pa. Ruth was a member of Randleman First Wesleyan Church. While living in Hopewell, VA. she was a Sunday School teacher, youth director,and church organist. As a devoted Christian she was an exceptional prayer warrior. She was a leader in the women's missionary group and served in the Gideon Womens Auxiliary. Ruth was a good and faithful servant to God and her family. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Alfred Hurlburt, daughter, Ruth Ann Hurlburt, sisters: Iola Zehner, Mae Carter, Eleanor Brownell and her twin Marion Sherwood.
She is survived by her daughters: Miriam Griffin and husband, Rev. Paul of Fort Mill, SC, Phyllis Adams and husband Robert of Burke, VA. and Beatrice Hurlburt of Bayse, VA.; sons Rev. Alfred Hurlburt and wife Judy of Albemarle, NC, and Rev. Don Hurlburt and wife Gail of Randleman, NC; sisters Annette Allmon of Prince George, VA. and Elaine Fisher of Colonial Heights, VA.; brother, Paul Haas of Knoxville, TN.; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 13, 2017 from 1:30 - 2:45 PM at First Wesleyan Church, 125 Tabernacle St., Randleman, NC. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Don Hurlburt and Rev. Andrew Hurlburt officiating. Burial will be Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 12:00 pm at Southlawn Cemetery, Bird Song Road, Petersburg, VA.
