Rufus E. Kennedy

Rufus E. Kennedy, age 88, of 516 Wallace Ave., Apt 19-A, Troy, died Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Autumn Care Nursing & Rehabilitation, Biscoe. Mr. Kennedy was born August 18, 1924 at Montgomery County, NC, the son of George Manley Kennedy and Ella English Kennedy. He was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church and a retired employee with 45 years of service at Springs Mills. In addition to his parents, Rufus is preceded in death by his wife: Pauline Cagle Kennedy, a son: David Lee Kennedy, three brothers: Welcome Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and Ray Kennedy, one sister: Mable Grey. He is survived by one son: Roger Kennedy and wife, Judy of Candor; one grandson, Chesley Kennedy and wife Vanessa of Pinebluff; two brothers: Dudley Kennedy and wife, Kay of Biscoe, Wayland Kennedy and wife, Geneva of Pembroke; two sisters: Beatrice Overton and husband, John of Biscoe, Mary Alice Sigmon and husband, Wayne of Matthews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy; other times at the home of Roger and Judy Kennedy, 155 Laurel Hill Lane, Candor. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home Chapel 211 North Main Street, Troy with Rev. Wayne VunCannon and Rev. Grady Blake officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Candor. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
