Ruby Allen McIntyre, a former resident of Troy, passed away January 3, 2012 at her home in Raleigh after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love and prayers of her family. She was born on February 16, 1930.
Ruby used the gifts of her life to serve as a nurse and an instrument of God's grace and love. Her passion for serving others was a river flowing throughout her life. The individual care she gave to all of her patients as well as friends was filled with encouragement, compassion and enthusiasm.
She is survived by her daughters, Judy Sanders and husband Doug of Raleigh, Carolyn McClure and husband Rick of Pinehurst, and Linda Goodman and husband Randy of Troy. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Allen of Trinity; her sisters, Alice Hamilton of Mt. Gilead, Betty Braddock of High Point and Peggy Barrow of Elizabethtown.
"Nanny" is also survived by seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; and her constant companion, her doggie, Reba.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Edna Allen; her husband, George Cline McIntyre; her brothers, George Allen and Miley Allen; and her sisters, Billie Blue and Hazel Thompson.
As we celebrate her life on earth and are comforted by her peace in heaven, we are reminded of her strength, courage and faith that will keep on living forever in our hearts.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 6, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home and other times at the home of Linda and Randy Goodman, 189 Shiloh Road, Troy.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 7, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Troy, NC. Officiating will be the Rev. Grady Blakely and the Rev. Kincy Barrow. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Wake County for their loving care and support during this time; also, Dr. Jeffrey Crane and staff of Rex Cancer Center.
