Ruby Hussey Guy died Sunday, July 6, 2008 at her home. She was born May 19, 1931 in Robbins, NC, daughter of Bertie Allred Hussey and Bert O. Hussey. Mrs. Guy lived most of her life in Asheboro. She was a very hardworking and devoted mother of three sons. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed physical exercise, outdoor activities, crafts, country line dancing, and just being with friends and family. One of her greatest personal attributes was that she cared dearly for others, particularly those who faced special challenges and hardships in life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertie and Bert Hussey; one sister: Ima H. Beck and a great granddaughter: Anna Claire Brown. Ruby is survived by her husband Tommy Guy of Asheboro; three sons, G. Edward Bonkemeyer and wife Harriette of Greensboro, Phillip D. Bonkemeyer and wife Dianne of Asheboro, and Ricky H. Bonkemeyer and wife Bonnie of Asheboro. She is also survived by five granddaughters; Virginia B. Rushing and husband Mike of Allen, Texas, Kathryn B. Ezell and husband Daniel, of Conover, Julie B. Brown and husband Craig of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Meredith A. Bonkemeyer of Asheboro, and Mallory E. Bonkemeyer of Asheboro; five great grand children; Eli, Silas, and Chloe Brown of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Tyler and Parker Rushing of Allen, Texas.. She is also survived by sister, Virginia H. Rumley of Asheboro, and brother, Paul Hussey and wife Thelma of Biscoe, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 8, 2008 from 9:30-10:30 AM at Pugh Funeral Home 437 Sunset Ave. Asheboro, NC and other times at her home. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM in Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro. Burial will follow at Smryna United Methodist Church Cemetery, Robbins, NC. The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate care given to Ruby by Hospice of Randolph County and her special friend, Betty Auman.
