Ruby Anna Lassiter Culver went to be with her Lord and Savior February 11, 2017. She was born January 15, 1914 to Eugene and Alice Lassiter. Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alton Culver, siblings, Eugenia Bell, Jessie Causey, Bud Lassiter and cousin Helen Lassiter. Ruby lived her last years at the home of her niece Jeannie Causey Owens and husband Paul in Asheboro. She never had children. Her nieces and nephews were special to her and she was special to them. They are Gene Bell (Cynthia), Libby Edmonds (Wayne), Altron Bell, Anna Meily (David), Jeannie Owens (Paul), Buddy Lassiter (Lou Ann), and Gary Lassiter (Janice). Ruby was married to the love of her life, Alton Culver. He was a member of the US Coast Guard. Ruby often said their marriage was like a big adventure. They traveled a lot and lived in many places. They lived in Puerto Rico, Virginia, Washington D.C., New York, Massachusetts and New Orleans. They always returned home. Ruby was a member of The Methodist Women and First Methodist Church in Randleman where she recently celebrated her 103 birthday with around 50 friends attending. Preserving history was important to her. She was a founding member of the North Randolph Historical Society. Ruby was a great resource of Randolph County history drawing from experiences and knowledge acquired throughout her lifetime. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, 301 S. Main St., P.O. Box 35, Randleman, NC. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jenna Grogan officiating. Burial will be held at St Paul Cemetery, Randleman. The family wishes to thank all who gave Ruby their gentle care and attention; especially the friends and staff at Staywell, many CAN's including Julie Havens, Judy Burroughs and special friend Sharon Smith. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church 300 S. Main St., Randleman, NC 27317 or North Randolph Historical Society, St. Paul Museum, P.O. Box 1341, Randleman, NC 27317 Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman is serving the Culver family.
