Ruby Lackey Cox

Ruby Lackey Cox, of Bradenton FL, died Tuesday April 1, 2008, at the age of 91 after a long illness. Originally of Charlotte NC, she and was the daughter of Charles Van Buren Lackey and Roxie Estelle Gulledge. Ruby was the loving wife of Eldon E. Cox Sr., originally of Asheboro NC, who predeceased her. Ruby and Eldon lived in Charlotte, Miami FL, and then back to Asheboro until Eldon's death in January 1983. Later she relocated to Gainesville FL and then Bradenton FL to be near her daughter. Ruby is survived by two children, Eldon E. Cox Jr. of Lowell MA and Mrs. Barbara Cox Poole of Anderson SC, and by five grandchildren, Ethan H. Poole, Mrs. Chrysanne Poole Hamrah, William E. Cox, Michael H. Cox, and Jonathan D. Cox. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro on Saturday April 19 at 1:30pm. Her family will share in a graveside remembrance service at that time.
