Ruby "Louise" Morgan Coltrane, age 86, of Asheboro went peacefully into the arms of Jesus Friday, December 20, 2013 at her home.
Mrs. Coltrane was born October 30, 1927 at Asheboro, NC, the daughter of Leslie H. and Lois Davidson Morgan.
Mrs. Coltrane was a native of Randolph County and a graduate of Asheboro High School and Kings Business College in Greensboro. She was formerly employed with Tie Rite, Herlocker Oil Company, Lindley Park School as a teacher's assistant, and Asheboro Carpet. She was also employed as payroll secretary with Acme McCrary Hosiery. Louise was an actively involved member of West Bend United Methodist Church where she served as the first paid secretary for 11 years, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and served on many committees. Louise was a faithful volunteer at Hospice of Randolph County and a caregiver to many family members and neighbors. She was an avid Duke basketball fan, an excellent cook, a lady with a great sense of humor and a quick wit, and never complained. She was a committed Christian who lived her faith and was "The Best" wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, daughter in law, and sister and sister in law. In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by a brother: Ralph Morgan.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years: Thurman Walton Coltrane; two daughters and their spouses: Kay Coltrane (Ron) Regnier of Winterville and Lisa Coltrane (Scott) Alley of Asheboro; 4 grandchildren; Michael Robert Regnier, Mark Walton Regnier, Stephanie Yoon Alley and Sarah Yoon Alley; three sisters and their spouses: Peggy (Paul) Foust, Jane (Leo) Layne and Alice (William) Holloway all of Asheboro; one brother: Tom Morgan of High Point; sisters in law, Vivian Morgan and Sue Hussey and her special friend, Elvin Maness, all of Asheboro; brother's in law and their spouses , Gilbert (Mary) Coltrane of Asheboro and Johnny (Patricia) Coltrane of Ellerbe, Sisters in law, Mary Lee Cox and Mattie Coltrane, both of Asheboro; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
The funeral service will be held Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with Rev. Drew McIntyre officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro.
