Ruby Parks Callicutt, age 98, of Asheboro passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House.
Mrs. Callicutt was born in Randolph County on October 19, 1920 to Alvis and Della Vuncannon Parks. She attended High Pine Wesleyan Church. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Callicutt and 8 siblings. Ruby found joy in giving and was the definition of a good neighbor. She enjoyed vegetable gardening and planting flowers and loved giving away her produce. She enjoyed cooking for her family, trying new recipes, and visiting her neighborhood shut-ins.
She is survived by her children, Rachel C. Harper and husband Brad, Edna C. Hayes and husband Joe, Ray Callicutt and wife Norma, and Kenneth Callicutt and wife Beverly all of Asheboro; grandchildren, Jeff Callicutt and wife Nicole of Finley, OH, Mike Callicutt and fiancée Tammy Morton of Asheboro, Hollie Bennett and husband Mike of Kernersville, Ashley Hamilton and husband Kevin of Asheboro, Jennifer Waller and husband Jason of Greensboro, NC, Micaela Hayes and Mallory Hayes both of Asheboro; great grandchildren, Eli Callicutt, Caleb Callicutt, Collin Callicutt, Katherine Callicutt, Lauren Callicutt, Taylor Callicutt, Emily Hamilton, Anna Hamilton, Breauna Perdue, Austin Morton, and Weston Bennett.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 18, 2019 from 1:00-3:00 pm at High Pine Wesleyan Church, 4492 High Pine Church Road in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Sunday at 3:00 pm at High Pine Wesleyan Church with Pastor Justin LaBarre and Pastor Wyatt Hoogkamp officiating. Burial will be held in the Callicutt Memorial Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and food, memorials may be made to the Callicutt Memorial Church Cemetery Fund, 3344 R&H Dr., Asheboro, NC 27205 or Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009.
