Roy Clayton Brown, age 84, of Asheboro went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 21, 2021 at the Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.
He was a member of Franklinville Wesleyan Church where he served the Lord many years as Sunday School Superintendent, song leader, and adult Sunday School teacher. Roy graduated from Coleridge High School and retired from Quality Blind and Awning after also having worked for Burlington Industries and Ramtex.
Roy was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, caring son, and supportive brother. Most importantly, he was a child of God, leading a godly life as an example for his family.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by wife, Virginia Lowdermilk Brown, wife, Betty Elberson Brown, daughter, Karen Marie Brown, and brother, Howard Russell Brown.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Brown (Phillip) Hogan of Asheboro; granddaughters, Stephanie (Richard) Kinton of Asheboro, Rebecca (A.J.) Odom of Thomasville; great grandchildren, Daegon Kinton, Bannon Kinton, Adalynne Kinton, John Michael Odom, and Penelope Odom; sister, Ruth Ann Allred.
Roy's greatest desire, spoken often in his prayers, was "Lord, please help me to do what I wish I would have done when I stand before you."
Roy fought a good fight. He finished his course and he kept the faith.
The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 from 11:30 am-12:45 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro and other times at 2985 Pilot Mountain Road in Asheboro, Roy and Betty's former residence before going to their heavenly homes. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Giles officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Friends Meeting Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Roy's memory to Franklinville Wesleyan Church, 225 Allred St., Franklinville, NC 27248.
