RANDLEMAN - Ross Lender Dixon, age 96, of Randleman passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 22, 2017.
Mr. Dixon was born March 18, 1921 the son of Berry and Nettie Dye Dixon in Rockingham County. Ross was a member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church for over 70 years. He was a truck driver for Carolina Steel and after retirement worked at Moran's Service Station in Randleman. Ross was committed to his family, church, and to hard work. In addition to his parents, Ross is preceded in death by his wife of 74 years: Edna Page Dixon; brothers: Roy, Junior and Carl Dixon; and sisters: Ora Price, Lottie Mae Hawkins and Frances Thomas.
He is survived by daughters: Phyllis Neal of Randleman and Brenda Kirkman (Tom) of Charlotte; granddaughters: Wendy Neal Mahaney (Jimmy), Jennifer Neal McClure of Cameron, NC; great-grandchildren: Tyler and Trevor Mahaney, Katie, Lauren and Caroline McClure; sister: Evelyn Moore; brother: Jack Dixon.
The family would like to thank his caregivers Ann Shelby and Martha as well as the Hospice of Randolph staff for their loving care.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 27, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral service will be held Saturday, October28, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, 119 W. River Drive, Randleman with Rev. Kaye Fry and Rev. Carol Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
