Rosa Shumate Morgan

Rosa Shumate Morgan, 82, of Asheboro, died February 28, 2008. Mrs. Morgan was born January 19, 1926, in Charlotte, NC. She attended Charlotte Schools and Wingate and moved to Asheboro upon her marriage in 1942. Mrs. Morgan was predeceased by her husband, Samuel Hiatt Morgan; her father Edgar E. Shumate and his wife Minnie; her mother Laura Verdie Hince and her husband Dan; a great-grandson Ben Goebel; three sisters, and two brothers. She is survived by her son Gene Morgan (Judy) of Charlotte and her daughters Susan Swiers (Charles) of Asheboro and Beth Walker (Stuart) of Raleigh and sisters-in-law Add Lea Morgan and Hilda Morgan. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jennifer Brewer (Kevin), Casandra Newton (Galen), Ellie Parker (Garret), Rebecca Kidd (Alex), Amy Fleischer (Ethan), and Caroline Fruitt (Robert) and her great grandchildren Megan, Adam (Maria), Blake, Andrew, Kiersten, Sam, Jarrett, and John and her nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2008, at 3:00pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Dr. Mark Key officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-3:00 pm Saturday, other times at the home of Susan and Charles Swiers, 954 Tamworth Rd., Asheboro. A private burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Randolph Cancer Center, 713 South Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC 27203 or Hospice Building Fund, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203.
