Ronald "Ron" Wesley Jones was born on February 6, 1951 in Asheboro, NC and died on August 1, 2017. He is predeceased by his parents Wesley "Dub" Calvin Jones and Helen Dixon Jones.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 12 noon at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from 10:00 am-12:00 noon at Pugh Funeral Home.
Ron graduated from Asheboro High School in 1969 and from Western Carolina University in 1973. He married Tabitha "Tabby" McCollum Jones on August 26, 1973. Ron worked in the textile industry from 1973 to 1988. He then established an esteemed career at Randolph Community College from 1988 to 2004, as Vice President of Administrative Services. During this time, Ron obtained his Master of Business Administration degree from Pfeiffer College in 1990. From 2005 until his retirement in 2016 he held positions of Director of Facilities and Project Specialist at GTCC.
Ron was also involved in his community through Kiwanis of Asheboro and serving on the board at the State Employee's Credit Union.
Ron loved the beach, boating and saltwater fishing. He took regular trips over the past 45 years to the Outer Banks with his best friend Mike Redding and other fishing buddies. He and his wife Tabby enjoyed many summers at Ocean Isle Beach, where he could relax on weekends away from work, overlooking the intracoastal waterway.
He is survived by his loving wife Tabby McCollum Jones, daughter Lori Jones Muse, her husband Will Muse, and granddaughter Camille Muse, who affectionately referred to him as "Pop" (all of Jamestown, NC). He is also survived by his mother-in-law Hazel McCollum of Asheboro, NC; brother-in-law Turner McCollum and his daughters Franni and Tessa of Kensington, MD; brother-in-law Warren McCollum and his wife Kitty McCollum of Hillsborough, NC, and their daughter Lindsay Farling and her husband Stewart Farling of Durham, NC. In addition he is survived by his Aunt Frankie Dixon and family in Georgia, and Aunt Wilma Jones and family of Texas.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Hospice of Randolph County for their care across the continuum of services. Their loving expertise was an invaluable blessing.
