Roland Lee Weaver, age 72, of Asheboro passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at High Point Regional Hospital.
Mr. Weaver was born in Bear Creek on March 23, 1943 to Charles D. and Lou Callicutt Weaver. Roland was a member of First Baptist Church in Asheboro. He was employed as a truck driver for 25 years with Thomas Brothers Country Ham. He formerly taught classes for drivers to get their CDL. He was retired from Ruan Transportation in Des Moines, Iowa and retired as their Safety Director. In addition to his parents, Roland was preceded in death by his brother: Charles D. Weaver, Jr.; stepfather Ed Carter and granddaughter: Tatum Ellianna Weaver. Roland enjoyed NASCAR, his dogs, and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife, Bette Lee Ferree Weaver; children, Garry W. Weaver (Cathi) of Raleigh, Pamela W. Hurley (Tim) of Asheboro, Teresa R. Weaver (Robert Cagle) of Climax, Tracie W. Holder (Jim) of Fuquay-Varina, Alton W. Craven (Betty) of Ramseur, Wendy Gollihue (Ray) of Cape Carteret, and Christopher F. Craven (Teresa) of Hope Mills; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Sheila C. Deli (Alex) of Greensboro.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with Rev. Jim Holder and Rev. Rick Davis officiating. Inurnment will follow at New Hope Memorial Gardens.
