Robert Alvin Walker

Robert Alvin Walker died suddenly April 23, 2019 of a heart attack.

He was predeceased by his parents, Pearl Hackney Walker and Al Walker of Asheboro, his nephew Andrew Payne of Raleigh and his brother in law, Bruce Watkins of Wilmington.

Robert was born February 19, 1957 in Asheboro and graduated from Asheboro High School in 1975, where he played football and then attended East Carolina University. He had a landscaping business and always had a love for sports and for traveling. Robert had a magical quality about him that allowed him to connect with people from all walks of life.

Robert is survived by his sisters, Jane Walker Payne of Jamestown, Pam Walker Watkins of Wilmington and Dana Walker of Sopchoppy, Florida; niece, Casey Watkins of Asheville; nephew, Jud Watkins of Wilmington, (Amber); great niece, Airlie Watkins; longtime girlfriend, Debbie Davis of Winston Salem and many cousins and friends.

There will be a memorial service held Wednesday May 8th at 4:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro followed by a visitation at The Flying Pig at 5:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the Andrew Payne Memorial Fund, 131 Rogersville Rd., Wilmington, NC 28403.
