Robert DeLee Vanhoy, age 86, of Hickory Street, Troy died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Hinkle Hospice House, Lexington.
Robert was born November 23, 1925 at Troy, NC, the son of Foster B and Bertie Harris Vanhoy. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Troy and a US Navy veteran of World War II. Robert was a retired employee of Montgomery Dairy and worked for several years at Troy Gulf Station. He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Margie McFalls Vanhoy of the home; children: Catherine Ann Vanhoy Koenck and husband, Larry of Greensboro, Robert D. "Bobby" Vanhoy and wife, Diane of Lexington, Larry D. Vanhoy and wife, Judy of Troy; one sister: Madge V. Kearns of Biscoe; two brothers: Eugene H. Vanhoy of King and James Foster Vanhoy of CA; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy; other times at the home. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Troy, 401 E. Main Street, Troy with Dr. Phillips McRae officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard, will be in Southside Cemetery, Troy.
