Robert Charles Smith

Robert Charles Smith, age 79, of 1526 Old County Farm Rd., Sophia died Monday, September 5, 2011 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 10:00 am at St Joseph Catholic Church with Father Joseph Mack officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park. Mr. Smith was a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was of the Roman Catholic faith. He had retired as Director of Materials Management with American Cyanamid in Wayne, NJ. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Baechle and Catherine Mueller. During his life, Mr. Smith was a coach, a Boy Scout troop leader and served his church community in many ways, most recently as the head of Randolph County Right to Life. He was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Flora May Salsgiver Smith; daughters, Barbara Murray and her husband Donald of Becket, MA, Mary Kay Klim and her husband Vince of Hillsboro, NJ; son, Gary Smith and his wife Alice of Melrose, MA; grandchildren, Aaron Murray and his wife Laura of Seattle, WA, Correen Dean and her husband, David of Seattle, WA, Daniel Klim of Hillsboro, NJ, Christine Klim of Hillsboro, NJ, Marlena Smith of Malden, MA, Patrick Smith of Melrose, MA; great grandchildren, Kieran and Connor Murray of Seattle, WA, Justin and Brandon Dean of Seattle, WA, Kevin Klim of Hillsboro, NJ; sister, Mary Jane Meyer of Cincinnati, OH. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 7, 2011 from 7 to 9 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to contribute to North Carolina Right to Life, P.O. Box 9282, Greensboro, NC 27429 or Randolph Pregnancy Care Center, 530 S.
