Robert "Bob" Slade, 84, of Asheboro went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 31, 2017. A native of Burlington, he was the loving husband of 38 years to the late Geneva Walker Slade and son of the late Lee Wycliffe Slade and Lillian Garrison Slade. Robert worked in the flooring business for over 40 years, and was a faithful member of Hope Baptist Church in Sophia. Robert enjoyed playing golf with his friends, many of which he will meet again. He was a 32nd degree Mason and served in the Shriners where he received great joy from helping those in need. Robert was in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1955 and served his country on the Battle Ship Wisconsin for 18 months in the Korean War. In addition to his wife and parents Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, Wallace H. Slade and Gene Slade, sisters, Mrs. Ruth Vaughn and Mrs. Mary Viers, step-daughter, Mrs. Pamela Sechrest. Robert is survived by nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends Monday, August 7, 2017 from 12:00 – 1:30 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro. A graveside service with military honors by the Randolph County Guard will follow at 2:00 pm at Randolph Memorial Park with Pastor Steve McSwain officiating.
