Robert Ray (Bob) Skelton, age 79, of 205 Greenvale Rd., Asheboro died Monday, October 12, 2009 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Calvary United Methodist Church with Rev. David Spaulding, Rev. Charles A. Lindquist Jr. and Rev. Edward Tapper officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Mr. Skelton was born January 4, 1930 in Greensboro, son of the late Daniel Eugene and Gertrude Camelia Owen Skelton. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, a former member of the U.S. Naval Reserve and retired from the N. C. Highway Patrol. Mr. Skelton was a past Master of Masonic Lodge 699, a member of Eastern Star Chapter 210 and the Scottish Rite all in Asheboro. He was a recipient of The Order of the Long Leaf Pine. Mr. Skelton was preceded in death by his loving wife, Norma Jean Skelton, sons, Robert Wayne Skelton, James Paige Skelton, grandson, Daniel Wayne Skelton, brothers, Daniel Eugene Skelton, Jr. and his wife Vivian and Aubrey Lee Skelton and his wife Eleanor.
He is survived by his daughter, Ginger Skelton Jameson and her husband Lance D. Jameson of Houston, TX.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 14, 2009 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
