Robert Earl "Bob" Howell, age 76, of 347 Oakgrove Rd., Asheboro died Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the West Bend United Methodist Church with Rev. David Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.Mr. Howell was a native of Randolph County and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a former paint contractor and was a retired Tram Driver with the NC Zoo. He was a member of West Bend United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the choir, was President of the Cemetery Memorial Association, and was a member of the Methodist Men. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Robbins "Lib" Howell; son, Bobby Randall Howell and his wife Dianne of Sophia, NC; grandchildren, Buck Ryan Howell of Sophia, NC, Nicholas Tyler Howell of Ft. Benning, GA; step grandson, Gregory Davis and his wife Dianna of Climax, NC; 2 step great grandchildren; brother, John Howell and his wife Virginia of High Point, NC; sisters, Virginia Cooper and her husband Darrell of Asheboro, NC, Phyllis Cooper and her husband Harry of Asheboro, NC, Sue King and her husband Mike of Kure Beach, NC.The family will receive friends on Friday, May 22, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
