Robert Joseph Heinzer, age 80, of Randleman died Monday, October 9, 2017 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mr. Heinzer was born in Jersey City, NJ on April 7, 1937 to Valentine and Josephine Egan Heinzer. Mr. Heinzer received his B.S. in Statistics and was Magna Cum Laude at Rutgers University. While at Rutgers he was recipient of the "American Statistical Association Award and a member of Rutgers National Honor Society. He also received his Master's in Business Administration at Pace University in New York. Robert was retired from AT&T as District Manager for the Corporate Headquarters after 36 years of service. Upon retirement from AT&T Mr. Heinzer taught at Pfeiffer University and then at Randolph Community College. Robert formerly raised and bred Collies, was awarded Best Breeder in the East, and in 1987 was awarded the Best Collie Puppy in the country by the CC of A. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Valentine Heinzer, Jr. Robert was very intelligent and always willing to help his students with problems, even if it was on the phone at night. He was loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Lindenmayer Heinzer; daughter, Wendy Heinzer of Tatamy, PA; sons, Warren K. Heinzer and wife Kimberly of Asheboro, R. Scott Heinzer and wife Helen of Andover, NJ; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Savannah Heinzer, Melissa and Ben Heinzer, Justin Rodrigo and Ryan Geiger
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 512 W. Wainman Ave., Asheboro with Father Philip Kollithanath officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
