Robert E. Forbes

Robert E. Forbes, age 85, of Asheboro died Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Randolph Hospice House. Mr. Forbes was born in Charleston, WV on October 13, 1929 to Charles Henry and Doris Day Forbes. Robert served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was retired from Union Carbide after 28 years of service and was formerly employed as a maintenance supervisor with Energizer. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brothers Charles and Bill Forbes. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Williams Forbes of the home; daughter, Robin Jo Forbes of Asheboro; sons, Robert Edward Forbes of Tennessee, Gregory Scott Forbes and fiancé Sylvia of Robbins, Jeffrey Todd Forbes and fiancé Lisa York of Asheboro; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and sister, Bernice Forbes Staats of North Carolina. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 10, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Tony Sedberry officiating. Entombment will follow in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
