Robert Thomas Dalton, Sr., age 92, of Asheboro passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation.
Mr. Dalton was born in Stuart, VA on June 26, 1926 to William and Kate Lawson Dalton. Robert served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, where he was a Golden Glove Boxer. He was the owner/operator of Balfour BP Gas Station for 22 years. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Anita Kim Sisk, 3 sisters, and 3 brothers. Robert was a hard-working man with a great sense of humor. He loved riding his motorcycles and rode with the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He also loved playing the guitar and racing at Caraway Speedway.
He is survived by his children, Glenda Dalton Brookbank of Greensboro, Lisa Klein (Paul) of Newnan, GA, Joe Dalton of Danville, VA, Joy Dalton of Graham, Maria Dalton of Archdale, and Robert "Bobby" Dalton, Jr. (Mandy) of Asheboro; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and former wife, Dorothy Dalton Hare of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 10:30-11:30 am at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. A graveside service will follow on Wednesday at 12 noon at Randolph Memorial Park with Rev. Jonathan Shook officiating and with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bailey's Grove Baptist Church, 1556 N. Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC 27203.
