Robert Emmette Cox

Robert E. Cox, age 65, of Sophia died Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. Mr. Cox was born October 7, 1949 the son of James and Maude Yow Cox. Robert was a native of Randolph County and had been employed with Goodyear for 28 years. He enjoyed playing golf and was known as "Mr. Myrtle Beach" because he loved going there so much. Robert was devoted to his family and he will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his brothers: Jerry and Richard Cox and sister Patsy Cagle. He is survived by his wife: Phyllis Cox; son: James Cox and his wife Tracy; step daughter, Teri Thomas and her husband Billy; grandson, Aaron Cox; step grandchildren, Michael and his wife Shaina and Raegan and Braydyn; 3 great grandchildren; sister: Margaret Ely; brother: Jim Cox; sister-in-law Nancy Cox; niece Andrea Underwood and her husband Jeff. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the chapel, with Rev. Troy Wilhelm officiating. Burial will be at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
