Robert Franklin Bulla was born on August 28, 1917 in New Bern, NC and died on September 20, 2015 at Hospice House of Randolph County.
Mr. Bulla was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Martha Scurlock Bulla, two wives, Lisbon Wallace Bulla and Hilda Evangeline (Vann) McCorquadale Bulla, one son, Staff Sergeant Robert Franklin Bulla, Jr., brothers, Otis, Ralph, Kenneth, Alfred (Bud), and Don, sisters, Bessie McPherson, Sadie Dawson, Velma McGill, and Marie Lewallen. He was a member of Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church. After serving in the Navy in World War II, he returned to Asheboro, where he owned his own masonry business. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time fishing with family and friends.
Mr. Bulla is survived by his daughter, Patsyanna Barker (Bill), stepson, Neill Hyde (Melinda), grandsons, Michael, Taylor (Rachel), Emery (Katy), two great-grandchildren, Makala and Cameron Barker, brother-in-law, David Lewallen, sister-in-law, Rose Bulla and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and other times at the home of his daughter. The Funeral will be Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wyatt Hoogkamp officiating. Burial with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
