Robert Stephen "Steve" Bray, age 57, of 335 Freedom Dr., Asheboro died Friday, November 26, 2010 at Randolph Hospital. Mr. Bray was born August 19, 1953 in Asheboro, NC the son of Farley Roosevelt and Jackie Rollins Bray.
In 1975 Steve and Neal Winslow moved to High Point, N.C, to work in the furniture upholstery. In 1980, they started "Decorative Upholstery". Steve re-dedicated his life to Jesus at the First Assembly Church in Asheboro in 1990. In 1991 Neal had a serious stroke so Steve dedicated his life to helping take care of Neal, and he decided to quit the furniture business. Starting in 1994 Steve delivered "Meals on Wheels" until one year ago. In 1997 because Steve enjoyed serving people, he worked in the restaurant business; Howard Johnson and last, at IHOP. His health began to decline over the last two years. Steve never met a stranger and his "dry-sense of humor" made everyone like him, especially the elderly; he always had a tender heart towards them. He enjoyed bowling since his parents, Bobby and Jackie started him at a very young age. Steve loved spending time at the beaches, enjoyed planting flowers. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Farley Roosevelt and Jackie Rollins Bray.
He his survived by: Neal Winslow of the home; several cousins; great uncle, J.C Stevenson and his wife Wilma. He left behind his pug "Connie" and cat, "Patches".
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 28, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Monday, November 29, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with Pastors David & Deborah Garner officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.
