Richard "Rick" Neil Spencer

Richard “Rick” Neil Spencer, 65, died on Saturday, July 29, at his home in Denton, NC where he lived with his beloved daughter. He was a Mecklenburg County native, born on April 12, 1958, to Frank Worth Spencer, Sr. and Lynn Burleson Lombardo.

Mr. Spencer had a long career with Leith Inc. serving as a dedicated Parts and Service Director before moving into sales and built on that through Allen-Vester Auto Mart where he was a successful salesman. He then took his sales knowledge into the furniture business at the Red Shed in Goldsboro NC.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman who had many stories to share. He was an Elvis fan who could sing and shag with the best of them. If you met Rick you made a friend for life. He always had a riddle to make you think  or joke to make you laugh. Rick had a huge heart for animals especially dogs. He loved his family and his friends so dearly.

He is survived by his beloved daughter. Amanda Spencer Chambers.and  granddaughters, Gabrielle(Gabby) Adams and Ashley Hendricks, and grandson, Lexington(Lex) Assante. He is also survived by his son Brandon Pendelton of Winston Salem and his wife Brittany with whom they have two beautiful children. He is also survived by his loving stepmom, Debbie Lafater, and half-siblings: Alan Lafater of Kissimmee, FL, Kevin Spencer of Indian Trail, NC, Miriam Spencer of Concord, NC, Gretta Spencer of Kannapolis, NC, Nicole Spencer of Gastonia, NC and Phillip Spencer of Gastonia, NC.

In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his adoring stepdad, Bob Lafater, brother, Frank Worth Spencer, Jr. and stepsister, Collins Lafater.

A public visitation will take place from 1:00-1:45pm on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Pugh Funeral Home in Randleman, 600 S. Main St., Randleman, NC 27317. A funeral service will follow at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel.
