Richard Edward "Dick" Prokopowich, age 89, of Asheboro died Friday, August 9, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mr. Prokopowich was born April 16, 1930 in Worcester, MA the son of Joseph and Anna Shilale Prokopowich. He was a graduate of The College of The Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. Dick served in the United States Marine Corp as a Sargent during the Korean War and was a Purple Heart recipient. After his military time, he worked for Union Carbide as an accountant. He was also owner of Garner Florist in Asheboro. Dick loved sports, especially golf. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Kean Prokopowich; and brother, Thomas Joseph Prokopowicz.
He is survived by cousin, Francis Latorre and wife Charlene of West Boylston, MA; sister-in-law, Malai Prokopowicz of Greensboro; several cousins; best friends, C. C. Pharr and wife Carrie, Jack Casper, and Nathan Williams.
Inurnment with military honors will be Friday, August 16, 2019 at 11:00 am at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury.
