Richard McMasters

Richard McMasters, age 86, of Ramseur died Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Randolph Hospice House. Mr. McMasters was born March 30, 1931 in Asheboro to Floyd and Hattie McMasters. He was a US Army veteran, a farmer, a retired employee of Millikan Sausage Company and a member of Pleasant Ridge Christian Church. Mr. McMasters was a hard-working, good provider who enjoyed traveling and had visited 48 of the 50 states. In addition to his parents, Mr. McMasters was preceded in death by his brother, Cleo McMasters and sister, Vera Forrest. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Glenda Trotter McMasters; children, Tony McMasters and wife Trish of Ramseur, Paula M. O'Brien and companion Sue Anderson of Mint Hill, Mitchell McMasters and wife Sherry of Ramseur, Lisa M. Ritch of Asheboro; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; sister, Virginia M. Garner of Asheboro; brother, Edward McMasters of Asheboro. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 at Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, 1426 Pleasant Ridge Rd., Ramseur with Rev. Mark C. Beane and Chaplain Tim Pheagin officiating. Burial with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will be in the church cemetery. The family would like to thank all his caretakers at Universal Healthcare during his 4 year stay there.
