Richard Alton Davis, age 85, of 3858 Happy Hollow Rd., Asheboro died Friday, March 20, 2009 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.Mr. Davis was born in Star, NC and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was retired from General Electric after 33 years of service and was preceeded in death by his son, Frank Hughes, Jr., brothers, Jessie, Jimmie, Webster, Jonah, and Thomas Davis and sister, Lillian Davis. He was a member of Dover Baptist Church. Some of his many loves in life included farming and gardening, and sitting and talking with his friends at Cliff's Curb Market, but most of all, his ultimate love was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife: Betty Jean Auman Davis; Daughters: Diana Hopkins of Seagrove, NC, Janice Richardson of Seagrove, NC, Leslie Isabel of Randleman, and Sonia Michael of Richmond, KY; Son, Farrell Davis of Asheboro, NC; Thirteen Grandchildren; Ten Great Grandchildren; Brothers: Lewis Davis, David Davis, Bernie Davis, and Leonard Davis.The family will receive friends Sunday, March 22, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be held Monday at 2:00 PM at Flag Springs United Methodist Church, 5852 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro with Rev. Billy Jarrett and J. Harold Hammond officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
