Richard Thomas Basinger

Richard Thomas Basinger, 68, passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on October 18, 2023. He was born in Guilford County, NC on June 3, 1955 to Dewey Elmo Basinger and Mary Lee Allred Basinger.

Richard was a loving and supportive father and provider. He was a 1973 graduate of Eastern Randolph High School. He was known by all as a hardworking man, spending 16 years as a pipefitter for Cone Mills in Greensboro, NC. Richard was an avid hunter and fisherman, especially during duck season. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren as often as possible.  

Richard is survived by his sons, Richard Kevin Basinger of Randleman and Shane Ashley Basinger of Climax; grandchildren, Gabrielle Brooke Basinger, Faith Basinger, Richard Shamus Basinger, Reva Ann Basinger, Shaden Thomas Basinger, Ethan J.R. Basinger; and great-grandchild, Malcolm Gay; siblings, Susan Johnson of Climax, Bobby Basinger (Peggy) of Climax, Phillip Basinger of Climax. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Mary Basinger.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Shane’s home at a later date.
