Rev. Thomas Eugene Schenck

Rev. Thomas Eugene "Gene" Schenck, Sr., age 90, of Asheboro died Thursday, October 12, 2017 at his home.

Gene was born October 21, 1926 the son of Rev. Dorsey and Esther Miller Schenck.

Gene was a native of Muncie, IN and a US Army Veteran of WWII. Gene graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University and received his Master's Degree from DePauw University. He was ordained as a minister in the Wesleyan Church and spent his years serving various churches in Indiana, Ohio, Florida and North Carolina. Locally he served for several years at Rushwood Park Wesleyan and Neighbors Grove Wesleyan churches. Gene's commitment to Christ and his gentle nature will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife: Tula McMasters Brady Schenck; son and his wife: Dr. Richard and Rev. Carol Schenck of Anderson, IN; stepson and his wife: Billy and Harriet Brady of Denton, NC; stepson and his wife: Farrell and Paula Brady of Asheboro, NC; stepson and his wife: Darrell and Pat Brady of Stoneville, NC; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; and one sister: Linda LeBaron of IN.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 16, 2017 from Noon-1:30 PM at Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church, 1928 N. Fayetteville St., Asheboro, NC.

The funeral will follow at 2:00 PM at the church with Pastor Wyatt Hoogkamp, Pastor Jonathan Lewis, Dr. Richard L. Schenck and Rev. Mark Hall officiating.

Burial will be later in the week in Memorial Park Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
