Rev. Leon D. Fowler went to Heaven Thursday morning, February 19, 2015 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at High Pine Wesleyan Church with his pastor, Dr. Terry L. Matthews and Rev. Todd Leach officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro.
Rev. Fowler was an officer with the High Point Police Department for four years prior to entering John Wesley Bible College in Greensboro; He was a graduate of John Wesley Bible College, Central Wesleyan College in Central, South Carolina, and Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky.
He pastored Wesleyan churches for 14 years and United Methodist churches for 14 years. He taught for several years at John Wesley College in Greensboro and was acting Dean.
He attended Central United Methodist Church in Asheboro since his retirement in 1999.
His favorite hobby was fishing and he loved gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Mamie Fowler and two brothers David Fowler and Donnie Fowler.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Neva Taylor Fowler; 2 daughters, Marilyn Fowler of Asheboro, and Martha Fowler Davis and husband Jerry of Salisbury; a brother, Jimmy Fowler and wife Glenda of Thomasville; and a sister, Wilma Witcher and husband Bobby of Thomasville.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the wonderful nurses of the 4th floor of Randolph Hospital. Also, all of the staff and nurses of Randolph Hospice House where he received excellent care.
