Rev. Larry Wayne McEntire

RANDLEMAN; Rev. Larry Wayne McEntire, age 79, of Randleman went to be with Jesus his Savior and Lord on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.

Rev. McEntire was born May 18, 1939 the son of Elen Vay and Helen Holbrook McEntire. He was a graduate of Columbia Grad School of Bible and Missions and later taught at John Wesley Bible College for 9 years. Larry was recorded in the Atlantic Friends Christian Ministries having been a preacher of the Gospel for 60 years. Larry was called to preach at the Billy Graham Crusade held in Greensboro in 1952. His membership was at Plainfield Friends in Siler City. In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his grandchild, Gregory Nathan Spurlin.

He is survived by his wife: Brenda Zachary McEntire; daughters: Virginia and husband Brad Pearce , Beth and husband Shannon Newlin,  Amy and husband Tony Laughlin, Julie and husband Jeff Rachlin  and Anita and husband Sean Dwyer;  grandchildren: Taylor Spurlin, Marvin Newlin (Kelli), Tara, Joylyn, Rebekah ,and Patrick Newlin, Gracyn Dwyer, Eli and Cooper Rachlin; one great grandchild due in August; sisters: Peggy Shaw and Gail Ortega;4 nieces and nephews.

Larry had a heart transplant in November 1999. We request that if you have not already , that you consider being an organ donor.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral service will be held Sunday, July 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Providence Friends Meeting, 2054 Providence Church Road, Pleasant Garden with Rev. Kevin Rollins and Rev. Daniel Thames officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Billy Graham Evangelist Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201 or to any of the churches Larry served.

We "thank" Providence Friends, Larry's last intern pastorate for all the loving care they gave him. We also would like to extend a "thanks" to hospice and to all our countless family and friends for all the love, compassion and care they have given.
