Rev. Kenneth Dewey Crouse, age 86, of 500 Mountain Top Dr., Asheboro died Friday, January 18, 2008 at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 21, 2008 at 3:00 PM at Central United Methodist Church with Dr. Mark J. Key and Lay Speaker Peggy Woodruff officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro. Rev. Crouse was born July 7, 1921 in Lexington, NC, the son of the late Blake D. Crouse and Mona Michael Crouse. He served in the U.S. Army as a Captain and Chaplain. He was a 1939 graduate of Lexington High School, a 1943 graduate of High Point College, and received his Masters of Divinity from Duke University in 1950. He was a teacher at Gray's Chapel High School from 1945-1947 and a teacher and principal at Cedar Falls Elementary School from 1947-1948. Rev. Crouse began his ministerial career with West Chapel United Methodist Church in Asheboro and ministered at several churches in the Western North Carolina Conference before retiring from West Bend United Methodist Church in Asheboro. He was preceded in death by his sister, Hilda C. Skeen, brother, Blake D. Crouse, Jr., and brother-in-law, Phillip C. Poole. He is survived by his wife, Louise Poole Crouse of Asheboro, NC; sister, Roberta Crouse Wagner and her husband E.J. of Lexington, NC; sister-in-law Delores P. Burton and her husband Nolan of Asheboro, NC; sister-in-law, Hilda P. Pickett and her husband Larry of Asheboro, NC; sister-in-law, Shirley Poole of Asheboro, NC; and sister-in-law, Margit Crouse of Jacksonville, FL. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 21, 2008 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church, 300 South Main St., Asheboro, NC. Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church Building Fund, 300 South Main Street, Asheboro, NC 27203. The family would like to express special thanks to Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to Kenneth during the past two years. Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro is in charge of arrangements.
