Rev. John Cull Nash Mangum, age 89, of Asheboro died Monday, February 7, 2011 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 2:30 pm at Central Falls Baptist Church with Rev. Ernest Mangum, Rev. Gerald Hussey and Rev. Kenneth Reaves officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
Rev. Mangum was a native of Union County. He was a retired minister after 65 years of faithful service to the Lord. Rev. Mangum was Pastor at Central Falls Baptist Church for over 20 years and was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Walden Mangum.
He is survived by daughter, Doris Palmer and her husband, Richard Palmer of Fayetteville; son Rev. Ernest Mangum and his wife Joyce of Randleman; grandchildren, Donna P. Dawkins and her husband Johnny Dawkins III of Fayetteville, Tim Mangum and his wife Jennifer of Greensboro, Joy M. Elkes of Sophia; great grandchildren, Johnny Dawkins IV of Fayetteville, Jill Dawkins a student at High Point University, Makayla, Hope and Hollis Elkes all of Sophia, Grayson and Ethan Mangum both of Greensboro.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30-2:00 p.m. at the Church Sanctuary, 1332 Old Liberty Rd., Asheboro.
The family would like to give special thanks to the ladies of Home Instead Senior Care for the care given to Rev. Mangum during his illness.
