Rev. Daniel King "Danny" Outen, age 74, of Asheboro died Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mr. Outen was born September 7, 1940 the son of Wilson and Fairy King Outen.
Danny grew up in Randolph County and was a graduate of Seagrove High School. He graduated from Central Wesleyan College (now Southern University) and then received his Divinity degree from Duke University. He pastored for more than 38 years, serving various churches in the Wesleyan Church and Western Conference of the United Methodist Church of North Carolina. He retired in 2005 but continued to pastor until 2012. He enjoyed golf, fishing and restoring old tractors. In addition to his parents, Danny is preceded in death by his brothers: Jake and Bobby Outen.
He is survived by his wife: Hilda McNeill Outen; one daughter: Tina Elliott of Asheboro, NC; grandsons: Blake and Owen Elliott of Asheboro, NC; one sister: Eleanor Grant of Rocky Mount, NC and one brother: Phil Outen of Asheboro, NC
The family will receive friends Friday, March 27, 2015 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Saturday at 4:00 PM at Central United Methodist Church, 300 South Main Street, Asheboro with Dr. Terry L. Matthews officiating.
Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
