Rev. Charles Clayton Spivey, Jr., age 65, of Asheboro, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 15, 2011. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Victory Baptist Church of Seagrove with Rev. Rodney Otwell and Rev. Tom Dillon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Rev. Spivey was a native of Randolph County and was a U. S. Air Force veteran. He was retired from Asheboro City Schools and was an avid Duke fan. Rev. Spivey loved the Lord and was a member of Victory Baptist Church of Seagrove where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Clayton Spivey. Rev. Spivey was a loving husband, father, Pop-Pop, son and brother. He is survived by his wife, Betty Strider Spivey, daughter, Sandra Spivey Edwards and her husband Wayne of Asheboro; son, LT Charles Clayton Spivey, III and his wife Maggie of Norfolk, VA; grandchild, Reagan Edwards; special pet, Rascal; mother, Agnes Mills Spivey of Seagrove; sister, Sue Ann Whatley and her husband Norris of Asheboro; brothers, Ronald Spivey and his wife Fay of Asheboro, Johnny Spivey and his wife Sharon of Asheboro; brother-in-law, Dean Strider and his wife Mary of Cedar Falls; 1 niece and 5 nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 6 to 8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and other time at his home.
