Reid Alderman Shaw, age 84, of Asheboro died Monday, March 17, 2014 at Universal Health Care of Ramseur.
Mr. Shaw was born January 22, 1930 in Guilford County to Earl and Deborah Hayworth Shaw. He was the owner and operator of Tie Rite Neckwear for over 40 years. Mr. Shaw enjoyed antiques cars and spent time restoring them. He was a pioneer in NASCAR racing as a car owner of Shaw Racing Enterprises for over 30 years. Mr. Shaw served in the Army National Guard during the Korean War. Mr. Shaw was a private, dignified man who was very protective of his family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by his wife, June Dickens Shaw and step-mother, Gladys Allen Shaw.
He is survived by his daughters, Sharon S. Gallimore and husband Greg of Asheboro, Lisa S. York and husband Craig of Asheboro; grandchildren, Steven and Jason Gallimore, Brittany and Christopher York; great grandchild, Tyson Reid Yow; sister, Janet Shaw Wagoner of Summerfield, FL; nephew, Connor Dee Shaw of FL; niece, Katherine Duvall of FL.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 12:30-1:45 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Michael A. Fulp, Jr. officiating. Entombment will be at Randolph Memorial Park.
