Reid Harlen Rich

Reid Harlen Rich, age 89, of 1125 Old Liberty Rd., Asheboro died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd with The Rev. Barbara J. Cooke, Rector and Rev. James E. Cockram officiating. Burial will be in Giles Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. Rich was a native of Randolph County, a graduate of Asheboro High School and served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He worked for Dal K. Rich Brick Company and was retired from Union Carbide. Mr. Rich served on the Hospice of Randolph board and was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd where he served as Junior Warden as well as other positions. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Clay, Joe, Wiley, Ollie and Ed Rich and sister, Edith Lemons. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Garlene Sykes Rich; son, Reid H. Rich, Jr. "Ricky" and his wife Karen Comer Rich of Asheboro; brother, Harris C. Rich of Roanoke, VA. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 28, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and other times at his home.
