Reece Dennis

John "Reece" Dennis, age 86, of Troy died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Tuscany House, Summerfield, Florida. Reece was born January 6, 1924 in Montgomery County, NC, the son of Randall and Ola (Hunsucker) Dennis. He was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church and formerly employed in retail sales. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Dennis, Max Dennis and James Dennis, and one sister, Bonnie Morris. He is survived by his wife: Hazel Garrison Dennis of Troy; two sons: Larry Dennis and wife, Jean of Summerfield, FL, Gary Dennis and wife, Wendy of Troy; one stepson: Ricky McElwaney of FL; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; five sisters: Ethel Blake of Valdese, Ruth Saunders of Robbins, Blanche Harris and husband, Clayton of Troy, Marie Morris and husband, Don of Troy, Rebecca Dunn and husband, Hughes of Troy; two brothers: Ira Dennis of Troy, Jesse Dennis and wife, Mary Ellen of Troy. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 5, 2010 from 6-8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy and immediately in the church fellowship hall following his funeral service Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 3:00 pm at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, 569 Liberty Hill Church Road, Mt. Gilead with Rev. John Ridenhour officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
