Raymond Arness Thompson

Raymond Arness Thompson, age 51, of Newport died Wednesday, August 14, 2013. Mr. Thompson was born November 28, 1961 and was a veteran of the US Air Force. Ray worked for World Wide Tech Services in Boston, MA and was owner/operator of Carolina Moving Team in Newport, NC. Ray was a wonderful Christian man who loved his whole family. He was our rock and the one person we could always count on. He spent his whole life and his resources taking care of the people he loved. Ray and Debra loved the ocean. They were married at the beach and were enjoying a family vacation at Emerald Isle, NC, when God called him home. We love you and will always miss you. You will be forever in our hearts. He is survived by his wife, Debra Bolt Thompson; children, Meredith Dawn Yuri and husband Hiro of Japan, Kristin Leah Sports and husband Alex of Fort Worth, TX, son, Michael Arness Thompson of Newport; daughter, Chloe Michalla Thompson of Newport; son: Zachary Murray of Newport; step-children, Anna Worley and Rachel Worley both of Lenox, MA; grandchildren, Cameron Sports and Dylan Sports both of Fort Worth; parents, Raymond E. and Louise Hargett Thompson of Asheboro; sister, Suzan Latham of Asheboro; niece, Savannah Latham of Asheboro; nephew, Ashton Latham of Asheboro; mother and father in laws: Charles and Pat Bolt of Danville, VA.; sisters inlaws: Lisa Bolt and husband Terry of Danville, VA and Chrissie Bolt of Atlanta, GA. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 18, 2013 from 4-6 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro. A memorial service will be held Monday, August 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Nelson Hopkins and Pastor Frank Barrett officiating.
