Raymond George Meyers

Raymond George Meyers, Jr., age 83, of 367 Queens Way, Randleman died Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro. Mr. Meyers was born June 12, 1924 in Orange, NJ, the son of Raymond and Adeline Comer Meyers, Sr. Mr. Meyers was a native of East Orange, NJ, and moved to Randleman in 1982. Mr. Meyers was a Navy Veteran of WWII and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Asheboro. He was a retired Captain with the East Orange Fire Dept. in East Orange, NJ. He served as a volunteer Fire Fighter with the Level Cross Fire Department and was a member of the VFW Post 45 in Asheboro. In addition to his parents Mr. Meyers was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Kenlein Meyers, children, James & Michael Meyers; sister, Mary Ross and brother, Robert Meyers and his second wife, Wilma Booth. He is survived by his daughter: Nancy Blanchard of Long Valley, NJ; sons: Raymond Meyers, III of Thousand Oaks, CA, Thomas Meyers of Bridgton, NJ and William Meyers of Randleman, NC; sister: Dorothy Hulbert of Tequesta, FL; brother: William Meyers of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren: Michael, Brian, James, Melanie, Dana, Danielle, Tyler, Kacey and Rayne; great grandchildren: Jeremiah, Adrean, Jack and Violet; step sons: Edward Booth of Randleman, NC and Ricky Booth of NJ. The family will receive friends Friday, March 7, 2008 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street in Randleman, NC. There will be a memorial graveside service with military honors held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Gate Of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave., East Hanover, NJ. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the charity of donor's choice.
