Ray Keith Sikes, age 86, of Asheboro died Friday, October 24, 2014 at Universal Health Care of Ramseur.
Mr. Sikes was a native of Randolph County, an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of Balfour Baptist Church where he sang in the Senior Saints Choir. He was retired from Klopman Mills in Central Falls and was a poultry farmer. Ray was a man of many interests and loves which included traveling, camping, fishing, visiting (never met a stranger), McDonald's bingo and gardening. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a deep love for his family and God. Ray was preceded in death by the love of his life for 54 years, Ruby Davis Sikes. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Eva Lawrence Sikes, grandson, Jason Davis, sister, Betty Russell and brothers, Lawrence, David and Joe Sikes.
He is survived by daughters, Sylvia S. Comiskey and husband Mike of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Ruth S. Davis and husband Gary of Asheboro; grandchildren, Tanya Trogdon, Trenda King Trogdon, Jamie Davis McGovern and husband Brian, Samuel Trogdon and wife Angela; great grandchildren, Kelsey and Natalie King, Patrick and Aiden McGovern, Aliza and Eden Raye Trogdon, sisters, Mary S. Brittian, Sue S. Rice and Doris S. Almond all of Asheboro; brothers, Tommy Sikes of Asheboro, Henry Sikes and Jimmy Sikes both of Seagrove.
The family will receive friends Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 27, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Balfour Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth L. Reaves officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
